  • PIs present their procedures in the shortest time possible (5 min?) so that there can be maximum time for Q&A between them and IMRIS.
  • There should be a set of key common questions for each session that will elicit responses from both sides
    • What body-part(s) are you imaging?
    • In what room do you plan to do the procedure? Middle? MRI only? Both?
    • In what room do you plan to image? What coils? How frequently?
    • Is this a multi-modality procedure - what beyond MRI will be used? Fluoro? US? Video? Virtual? Nav?
    • What does IMRIS offer the procedure; what are current limitations to what IMRIS provides here?
    • What gaps can Siemens' technology fill?


  • Question to Siemens: Can we get coil connector on back of MRI scanner (not table).
  • Loop coil coming via Siemens work statement.
  • Question for IMRIS: Stable position for imaging of liver, shimming is currently done at head and heart.
  • Question for IMRIS: Can you come with ergonomic models of patient position mentioned by Steve H.
  • Question for IMRIS:
  • DK: Combination of single view fluoro at known orientation and tracked probe should give us location.
  • Question to IMRIS and Siemens: Can we enable table transfer between Siemens table and IMRIS table. What can Miyabi (Trumpf) solution to for us?
  • Questions to Siemens: Get MR temperature mapping WIPS
  • Question to IMRIS: Is there a table top to open up spine access (like Jackson table)
  • Siemens upgrade path from Verio to Skyla [DK - I e-mailed Gordon Wilhem]
  • Question to IMRIS: What are pulse sequences are included?
  • QUESTIONS TO IMRIS:
    • Can we image liver on IMRIS table?
    • Do a verbal "walkthrough" of a liver cryo procedure based: 1) in the middle procedure room and 2) in the MRI room. (PRM)
    • What is the value of the middle room to non-neuro procedures? (PRM)
  • OTHER QUESTIONS
    • Should we get Brainlab table top/head holder for MR room?

  • We need to understand what differs between the Siemens offerings and what IMRIS has.
    • Will IMRIS have a coil connector that allows us to us all the Siemens diagnostic coils for rear entry
    • what interventions is Siemens working on that IMRIS is not, and vice versa
    • when Siemens upgrades its MRI and X-ray sw versions, do we get the upgraded versions at the same time
    • what X-ray options of Siemens (product and research, sw and hw) will be available to us as well. For example, the Siemens MRI->>x-ray registration package was developed at Stanford by R. Fahrtig. Will we be able to have it, and if so, at what cost?
    • take a look at the integration Siemens does of X-ray/MRI with ULS. Would be interesting to know how much of this is shared with IMRIS.

In advance of that meeting, please come prepared with a list of the following (think of the clinical applications we plan to implement, or what we are/will do(ing) that is novel, and what each requires and/or provides):

  • What IMRIS needs to provide
    • MRI
      • what coils do we need (diagnostic and therapeutic)? Below are in IMRIS quote:

      • How do the coils need to be hooked in?
      • what devices will we need to connect and their compatibility
      • what visualization aids do we need
      • what other hook-ups do we need inside the room.
    • what pulse sequences do we need?
      • ablation techniques, including devices and monitoring Work Stations (cryo, RF, etc.). How are are these integrated in to the surgical table?
      • robotic devices-needs, etc.
    • X-ray
      • what sw do we need on the x-ray (example: 3d spin, segmentation, x-ray-mri registration, fluoro mode)
      • what control do we need for the x-ray (example: table ctl.,foot peadles, in-room monitors)
      • what options do we need displayed on the x-ray monitors (examples: ECG output, Physiological monitoring)
      • integration of tracking (examples: Navx, Biosense-webster, optical (NDI), ULS)
      • integration of other modalities on the x-ray table (example:ULS)
    • General surgical room needs
      • hanging MRI-compatible in-room monitors
      • cleaning needs
      • booms
      • electrical outlets
  • What can we provide to IMRIS (I feel this is really important for a successful collaboraion !!!), and how can they make it easier to integrate what we develop into their product???
    • MRI pulse sequences on the Siemens OS
    • registration sw between modalities integrated into the Siemens platform
    • Image and signal processing algorithms for use on their Workstation (or on others', example: SJM Navx's or on Brain-lab's)
    • tracking devices
    • Intro of ablation techniques (cryo) and devices (Galil CryoHit) to 3T -- seen in Bay2 in 2010 prior to AMIGO (PRM)
    • Evaluation of Siemen's coils in 3T for abdominal interventions -- seen in Bay2 in 2010 prior to AMIGO (PRM)
    • visualization devices and approaches
    • robots and ctl sw ( experimental and connections to commercial types)
    • hardware of various sorts.
