Event Title

2017 SNR Retreat

Objective

  • Annual research retreat for members of SNR lab to present their on-going (unpublished) work, crazy new thoughts, introducing new ideas out there.
  • Not a regular research presentation like a scientific conference. this is a celebration of innovation.
  • Summer interns' opportunity to present their project
  • Hear expert's view on future of image-guided therapy
  • Interact with external collaborators and stakeholders of SNR Laboratory
  • (Recruiting opportunity for external industrial collaborators. External industrial collaborators' opportunity to network with experts in medical device instrumentation)

Wednesday, August 16, 8am-3pm (subject to change), Wellesley College Club, Council Dining Room, Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA

Directions

  • You can take Commuter Rail Framingham/Worcester Line (train 587) from South Station, Back Bay, or Yawkey

  • 8.45am-10.15am: Session I: 3 presentations, Hannah (Talk 15 minutes, discussion 10 minutes, chair's wrap-up 5 min)
    • 8.45-9.15: Charles Bondhus
      • Rising High School Senior at the Rivers school. He will be presenting his work on a Virtual Reality Needle Interface
    • 9.15-9.45: Brandon Tran
      • Rising Junior at Johns Hopkins University studying Electrical Engineering. He will be presenting his work on Respiratory Motion Compensation
    • 9.45-10.15: Pedro Moreira
      • Received his doctorate from University of Montpellier (France) in Automatic Systems and Microelectronics, he was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Twente working in the Surgical Robotics Lab. He will be presenting his work on Robot-assisted prostate biopsy
  • 10.15am-10.30am: Coffee Break
  • 10.30am-10.50am: "What I was doing at college, How I Got Here. What I care about now" Junichi Tokuda (Assistant Professor of Radiology), and Tina Kapur, PhD (Executive Director, IGT)
  • 10.50am-11.50pm: Session II: 2 presentations, Brandon (Talk 15 minutes, discussion 10 minutes, chair's wrap-up 5 min)
    • 10.50-11.20: Ben Wolsieffer (Wol-Siff-er)
      • Rising Sophomore at Dartmouth College studying Computer Science and Engineering. He will be presenting his work on Deep-Learning Based Depth Reconstruction
    • 11.20-11.50: Hannah Williams
      • Rising Junior at Stanford University studying Mechanical engineering. She will be presenting her work on Navigational Verification of a Continuum Robot
  • 11.50pm-12.50pm: Lunch and "Group Picture"
  • 12.50pm-1.10pm: "What I was doing at college, How I Got Here. What I care about now" Ron Kikinis MD (Robert Greenes Distinguished Director of Biomedical Informatics, Professor of Radiology), Oliver Jonas, PhD (Assistant Professor of Radiology)
  • 1.10pm-1.40pm: Session III: 1 presentation, Pedro (Talk 15 minutes, discussion 10 minutes, chair's wrap-up 5 min)
    • 1.10pm-1.40pm: Lilirose Byrne
      • Rising Junior at Northeastern studying Bioengineering and Graphic and Information Design. She will be presenting her work on Optimization of Micro-Device and Tissue Interface
  • 1.40am-1.50am: Coffee Break
  • 1.50pm-2.00pm: Awards, Oliver Jonas
  • 2.00pm-2.20pm: "What I was doing at college, How I Got Here. What I care about now" Nobuhiko Hata, PhD (Associate Professor of Radiology), Steve Pieper, PhD (Owner, Isomics, Inc.)
